Romantic Date Ideas

By Jessie Buswell

When it comes to long-term relationships, everybody seems to know that over time, the spark just starts to fade. However, this doesn't necessarily have to be the case. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of things that couples can do to keep that flame burning bright and hot. Keeping date nights romantic is one of the most important, so I am here to provide you with some romantic date ideas to help spice up the old "dinner and a movie" blues.

To begin with, remember that eating dinner isn't only a date if you go out. Dinner at home can be as much or more romantic than going out. Try to make a homemade pizza, or attempt to cook something new for both of you. But whatever you do, plan a meal that involves both of you being in the kitchen, making your delicious dinner-for-two a joint effort. Also, don't forget to take a few minutes to light some candles. A little bit of fire goes a long way.

To really turn up the heat, do something classically romantic, like taking a day outing to a vineyard for a wine tasting, or find a seaside or lake boat trip and spend the day and evening cruising around on the water and watching the sunset. Not much in the world beats a beautiful evening sunset with the person that you adore most.

It may sound silly in theory, but the truth is that hey - brains are sexy! Consider an edu-date, and sign up with your partner to take a class. It can be on anything from cooking to language classes (I mean, who doesn't want their partner to speak Italian to them?!) to dance classes (salsa, anyone?) to gun safety and shooting (I bet he'd LOVE to see you handle a gun!). It will expand your knowledge and be a great way to take what you learned home with you, maybe even in more ways that one...

For a fun and playful day or evening date, pack a picnic and take it to the local park or playground. Laughing together is one of the most romantic things that couples can do, and this will help you to rejuvenate your beginnings, rediscover what it was like to be young again, and enjoy each others company.

If you want a really romantic date, go do what we all dream about and take off the entire day to go to the spa. Treat yourselves to a couples massage and or any other spa treatments. To add the cherry on top, consider booking a room at a local, luxury hotel for the evening. Preset it with champagne and some chocolate covered strawberries, as it doesn't get much more romantic than that!
