The course prepares students in makeup application of this kind and the possible techniques required to become successful in the particular artistry.

It is important to ensure the safety and satisfaction of potential clients, but before that potential students have to be able to demonstrate complete competency.

Hands on training will usually not occur until students have demonstrated the ability to properly perform specific eyebrow, eye, and lip procedures. Usually the practice will be done on lambskins rather than on actual models. Specific anesthetics information and certain consultation procedures will also be learned by interested students.

Classes will involve students learning various cosmetics procedures after relearning the basic the first day. The class will then end with several exams. One will be written, the other verbal and the third will test individuals practical application of permanent makeup. Successfully completion of the exams with passing scores will be rewarded with a certificate as permanent makeup technician.

Interested participants can expect a permanent cosmetics training course to last about sixty hours, since this the recommended prerequisite for students interested in obtaining a certificate. The sixty hours are divided up over several days and are taught by a professionally trained instructor. Since there will be intense supervision done by an instructor, most classes of this kind will not admit more than three pupils at one time.
